The ancient system of Yoga has proved to be a path to holistic health and well being. There
are many different styles being taught from the very gentle with a lot of time for meditation to highly demanding physical
workouts. The spirit in which Yoga is intended to be practised is without harming ourselves (Ahimsa) –
what this means is that it’s wise to choose a class that will allow you to work within your limits, whilst still attaining
the benefits of the practise. Jennifer recently added a Power Yoga class to her timetable at Studio One. For
the more experienced Yoga practitioner, this class places emphasis on the physical postures, using deep stretches and challenging
sequences of postures. A union remains between breath and movement and the mind stays in constant focus
throughout – this gives the practise a meditative quality beneath the intensity.
About Jennifer….
Jennifer
first practised Yoga 25 years ago when her school offered it in place of PE. A love of the outdoors drove
her to pursue mainstream sports during her 20’s but following the birth of her first child she returned to Yoga in earnest.
Her Yoga practise carried her through a stressful period and inspired her to teach. Having trained
for the Diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga, she has continued to study with a variety of instructors
in different Yoga traditions to broaden her own experience.
